Flexible grid: Moved field disappeared

Problem

If a field, i.e. a symbol/text element, is accidentally or intentionally moved onto another, it can become invisible. It then disappears under the other one.

Cause

If two fields occupy the same space, the field that was created last is always visible on top. It does not matter which field was moved last, only the time of creation is decisive.

Solutions

  • Use the undo function at the top of the window to undo the move, or
  • Delete the field at the top or move it to another place so that the field below becomes visible again.

Overlapping

Through duplicating, moving or scaling boxes, they may also be placed on top of each other or overlap. They may overlap fully or only partially. Important to remember is that the most recently created box will always be on top. So, if one box is dragged onto another, it may happen that it is placed below the other one and will not be visible. Moving or deleting the box covering it will make the one below be visible again.

When hovering over a box it will temporarily appear in the foreground. This also applies to boxes that are only partially overlapped by other ones, as long as the mouse is not hovering over the overlapping areas.

Tip: MetaSearch does not (yet) offer layer management to further determine which boxes appear in the fore- or background. A box placed in the background may however be brought to the front by duplicating it and deleting the original. The duplicated box will be the most recently created element and so be placed on top of all previously created elements.
